The first step toward healing and good health begins with your desire to improve your own health. Massage Therapy as with any healing modality and a positive mental outlook and lifestyle can reinforce the effects of the treatment, just as a negative outlook or lifestyle can hinder healing.

For a therapeutic massage, you will be asked to remove clothing to your level of comfort. Undressing takes place in a private provided with freshly clean sheets and towels to keep you covered and warm.

During massage toxins are relased from your muscles so it is always important to drink plenty of water afer your sessions to eliminate toxins from your body. Not doing so can lead to an "achy" feeling in your body.
To get the most from a massage, the Massage Association offers some helpful tips:

Don’t eat prior to a session. Allow your body to digest any food before the massage.

Remove only as much clothing as you are comfortable taking off. Be sure to wear clothing that will be comfortable during the massage and will allow the massage therapist to touch and work on the areas of your body you expect will need to be massaged.

Communicate with your massage therapist before the session to ensure the therapists understands your expectations and is aware of any medical conditions that you may have including: allergies to oils and lotions. During the massage, express any experiences that are uncomfortable or causes discomfort.

Remember to breathe normally. Breathing helps facilitate relaxation. People often stop or limit their breathing when they feel anxious or a sensitive area is massaged.

Relax your muscles and your mind. Tightening up by contracting or hardening your muscles during the massage is counterproductive.

Drink extra water after your massage to help eliminate toxins that have been released.

Don’t rise too quickly after the massage and do allow for some open, quiet time after your massage session. If you experience dizziness or become light-headed after the massage, do not get off the table too fast.

Be prepared to schedule several massage sessions. Massage has its greatest benefits over time.
